The Public Works Department (PWD), under the Roads Directorate’s West Zone and South Western Highway Circle, has floated a critical infrastructure tender focused on road widening and strengthening. This project, located in the district of Purba Medinipur, aims to enhance a key segment of the regional highway network under the Tamluk Highway Division.
The scope of work includes widening and strengthening the existing road from 5.50 meters to 10.00 meters along the stretch from Km 83.10 to Km 84.835, and from 7.00 meters to 11.00 meters between Km 86.335 and Km 88.80. A raised footpath is also included as part of the upgrade to ensure pedestrian safety and better urban infrastructure standards.
The road section covered under this project plays a vital role in regional connectivity, supporting both intra-district and inter-district movement. The upgrade will reduce congestion, improve road safety, and support the movement of goods and services across this growing region.
The financial bid for this tender was officially opened on 16th June 2025. Among the bidders, M/s Kalika Stone Works submitted the lowest quote and was declared the L1 bidder.
The total value of the project is ₹23,52,03,651.9, reflecting a major investment in Purba Medinipur’s road infrastructure.
