The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), through its P6 Delhi division, Regional Office (RO) Mumbai, and NH Division-Pune, has floated a critical infrastructure tender aimed at improving road connectivity in Maharashtra’s Nashik district. This initiative forms part of MoRTH’s broader mission to strengthen national highways and ensure safer travel in high-altitude and forested zones.
The project specifically targets the upgradation of the Nashik–Peth Road, designated as National Highway No. 848, covering two distinct stretches within the forested ghat section. The road improvement is planned from Km 38.970 to Km 41.816 and from Km 49.730 to Km 51.413. These segments fall within a sensitive ecological belt and are vital for regional and inter-state connectivity.
The scope of work includes upgrading the identified stretches to a Two-Lane with Paved Shoulder (2LPS) standard, which will enhance vehicular movement, improve road safety, and reduce travel time for commuters and freight transport. The intervention is especially significant due to the challenging terrain and ecological considerations in the area.
The financial bid for this tender was opened on 13th June 2024, with the minimum value quoted by M/s Jai Sai Construction. The project’s estimated value stands at ₹391100000.
This development marks a continued investment by MoRTH in improving critical forest road infrastructure in Maharashtra.
