The Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT), under the Kolkata Dock System (KDS) through the Civil Engineering Department, O/o Chief Engineer / Sr. Executive Engineer (Contract), KDS, has invited a tender for major upgradation and resurfacing works on a vital urban corridor. The project covers the Taratala Road (old and new), stretching from the Diamond Harbour Road crossing to Ramnagar crossing, a heavily used arterial road that facilitates port-linked traffic and local commuting.
The scope of work includes resurfacing with heavy-duty paver blocks laid over the existing bituminous surface, ensuring enhanced durability and load-bearing capacity. Additionally, the project integrates the reconstruction and repair of side drains along the stretch, as well as various miscellaneous civil works essential to improve road safety, drainage, and long-term stability. This comprehensive intervention aims to strengthen urban road infrastructure while addressing both traffic congestion and drainage concerns in this high-traffic zone.
The financial bid for this project was opened on 7th August 2025 by KoPT authorities. Among the participants, D B Developer quoted the minimum value and is positioned to undertake the project. The sanctioned project value is ₹188,477,079.1 (approximately ₹18.85 crore), reflecting significant investment in port-linked connectivity and local urban development.
