The Public Works Department (PWD), under Western Circle – II, invited a tender for a crucial infrastructure development project on the Chapadanga–Pursurah–Arambagh Road (State Highway-2). The proposed work involves the widening and strengthening of the road from Chainage 11.50 km to 15.20 km, located in the Hooghly district. The project will be executed under the supervision of the Hooghly Construction Division, P.W.Dte.
This development is aimed at boosting intra-district connectivity and ensuring safer and smoother traffic movement along SH-2. The upgradation of this important road segment is expected to facilitate better transportation of goods and passengers and support the region’s growing infrastructural needs.
The financial bid for the project was opened on April 28, 2025. The process was overseen by officials from the PWD Western Circle – II. Among the contractors who participated, Biswajyoti Bhattacharyya emerged as the lowest bidder, complying with all technical and financial criteria set forth in the tender notice.
The total project is valued at ₹17,08,38,599. Upon completion of necessary approvals and formalities, the work is expected to commence promptly and will follow PWD standards for quality and timely execution.
