The Directorate General Border Roads Organisation (BRO), under HQ Chief Engineer Project (P) Rohtang in Manali, has invited a tender for an essential roadwork project. The scope includes development along a critical stretch of the Nimmu-Padam-Darcha (NPD) road, covering km 78.700 to km 95.000. This route is strategically important for improving access and mobility in remote regions.
The project involves laying two layers of Wet Mix Macadam (WMM), each 75 mm thick, followed by 60 mm thick Dense Bituminous Macadam (DBM). The process also includes applying Prime Coat and Tack Coat, which are essential preparatory layers to enhance the bond between pavement layers and ensure long-term durability.
To complete the surface, a 40 mm thick Bituminous Concrete (BC) layer will be laid. Additionally, safety enhancements such as 2.50 mm thick thermoplastic road markings and reflective road studs (100×100 mm) will be installed to improve night visibility and driving guidance, especially under adverse conditions.
The financial bid was officially opened on April 19, 2025. M/S Masood Ahmed Contractor emerged as the lowest bidder for this project. The total estimated cost of the work is ₹13,99,05,720, marking a significant investment in road infrastructure.
