The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), through its P7 Delhi office and Regional Office in Vijayawada, has floated a tender for the upgradation of the Pendurthi to Bowdara section of National Highway (NH) 516B in Andhra Pradesh. This vital infrastructure initiative is part of MoRTH’s ongoing efforts to modernize and expand India’s national highway network.
The project involves converting the existing road into a 2-lane and 4-lane highway with paved shoulders. The upgraded route will begin from its junction with NH 16 near Pendurthi and continue through Kothavalasa and S. Kota, finally terminating at its junction with NH 516E near Bowdara. This transformation aims to improve traffic flow, reduce travel time, and boost economic activity in the region.
The financial bid for the project was opened on February 27, 2025. After a thorough review of the proposals submitted, Tracks and Towers Infratech Private Limited was identified as the lowest bidder. Their bid met all the criteria set by MoRTH in terms of technical specifications and cost-efficiency.
The total estimated cost of this highway upgradation project stands at approximately ₹587.18 crores(5871825000). Construction is expected to begin soon following official awarding procedures.
