Gwalior’s roads are set to get a much-needed upgrade, thanks to a new project rolled out by the Public Works Department (PWD) under the North Zone. A tender was recently floated for white-topping work—an effort to make busy stretches of road smoother, stronger, and longer-lasting.
The project covers two major routes. One runs from New Collectrate Tiraha to Alapur Tiraha via Sirol Tiraha (Nolakha to Sonsa), spanning 2.70 kilometers. The other focuses on the Gwalior-Jhansi stretch, from A.G.O.B. to the Vicky Factory 04 TO 9, Total Length 5 kilometers. These roads see a lot of daily traffic, so the improvements are expected to make a big difference for commuters.
The financial bids were opened on February 3, 2025, with several construction firms in the race. After review, Tomar Builders and Contractors Private Limited emerged as the lowest bidder.
The project is worth around ₹18.63 crore (186270613.2) and marks a solid step toward better road infrastructure in the city.
