Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), through its Engineering Wing, invited a tender for the Design and Construction of a Rail Over Bridge (ROB) between Katrap and Belvali, Badlapur. This project includes the railway portion located within the KBMC area and has been issued as a 2nd Call, indicating its importance for improving urban mobility and easing rail–road conflict points in the region.
The proposed Rail Over Bridge aims to significantly reduce congestion and enhance safety for motorists and pedestrians by eliminating level-crossing delays. Once completed, the ROB will provide uninterrupted movement across the busy railway corridor, improving connectivity for residents of Katrap, Belvali, and surrounding urban pockets of Badlapur—one of the fast-growing suburban zones in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
The financial bid for this tender was opened on 12th October 2025 by MMRDA Engineering Division. Several technically qualified bidders participated, ensuring a transparent and competitive tendering process. R K Madhani and Co. emerged as the lowest (L1) bidder, offering the minimum quoted value to undertake the complete design and construction work as per MMRDA’s engineering standards.
The total project value stands at Rs. 814,905,000, marking a substantial investment in enhancing regional infrastructure. The Rail Over Bridge will improve commuter convenience, support smooth traffic flow, and enhance safety across the Badlapur railway stretch once commissioned.
