The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), through its Engineering Division, invited a tender for the design and construction of a Rail Over Bridge (ROB) between Katrap and Belvali, Badlapur. The project also includes the railway portion within the KBMC area and has been issued as the second call, ensuring participation from qualified contractors.
The ROB aims to provide an efficient alternative to level crossings in the busy Badlapur region, where road and rail intersections cause significant delays and safety risks. By constructing this bridge, MMRDA plans to eliminate congestion, improve safety, and enhance connectivity within the growing suburban belt of Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
The scope of work covers detailed design, civil engineering, and construction of the ROB, including approaches and integration with the existing road network. Special provisions are included to align with Indian Railways’ standards and approvals, ensuring smooth coordination between the road and railway authorities.
The tender financial bid was opened on 12th August 2025, where multiple participants competed for the contract. Following evaluation, R K Madhani and Co. quoted the lowest value, emerging as the L1 bidder.
The total value of this project is ₹81,49,05,000, marking a major infrastructure investment for easing transportation in Badlapur.
