The Public Works Department (PWD), P.W. (Roads) Directorate under PW(R) West Zone, Western Highway Circle–II, has invited a tender for a significant infrastructure development project in the Hooghly district. The project involves widening and strengthening the Arambagh–Tirol Road from 0.00 km to 8.00 km, as part of road improvement works under the Hooghly Highway Division No. I for the financial year 2024–25.
Key components of the project include widening the carriageway from 3.75 meters to 5.50 meters, construction of 13 culvert (CD) structures, 1 minor bridge, 1,080 meters of protective work, and 2,200 meters of RCC roadside surface drains. This comprehensive upgrade aims to enhance traffic flow, ensure road safety, and address drainage issues along the route.
The financial bid for this tender was opened on April 30, 2025, by the concerned authorities from PWD Western Highway Circle–II. After evaluation, M/S Giri Enterprise was declared the lowest bidder, meeting all technical and financial requirements.
The total estimated cost of the project stands at ₹21,80,01,420. Upon final approval, the project is expected to commence shortly, bringing much-needed improvement to the region’s transportation infrastructure.
