The Public Works Department (PWD), led by the Chief Engineer and Additional Secretary (CE & AS), has initiated a vital infrastructure project aimed at enhancing rural and inter-village road connectivity in the Karauli district of Rajasthan. The tender has been floated under the administrative guidance of the Additional Chief Engineer (ACE) – Bharatpur, with technical oversight from the Superintending Engineer – Karauli and Executive Engineer – Todabhim.
This project involves the construction of a major road stretch starting from Salempur to Baloti, passing through Dabra, Shekpura, Gothra, Virbasan, Devi, and Narauli, ultimately connecting to Kailadevi. Additionally, the scope includes the construction of a High-Level Bridge, a critical structure to ensure year-round connectivity in this semi-hilly region.
The proposed road and bridge are expected to facilitate smoother transportation, reduce travel time, and significantly improve access to remote areas, especially during monsoons when waterlogging disrupts movement. This development aligns with the state’s rural infrastructure improvement vision.
The financial bid for this tender was opened on 30th June 2025, at the PWD office, with participation from several prominent contractors. After due evaluation, M/S Foujdar Construction Company emerged as the lowest responsive bidder.
The total quoted value for the project stands at ₹54,47,91,530, reflecting a major investment in regional road infrastructure.
