The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), through its Chief Engineer, has invited a tender for the construction of an underpass at Pune University Chowk along with a connecting arm from SB Road to the double-deck bridge at University Chowk on Ganesh Khind Road, Pune. This strategic urban infrastructure project is aimed at easing congestion and improving traffic flow in one of Pune’s busiest junctions.
The proposed underpass will provide a grade-separated traffic movement, reducing signal delays and decongesting surface roads, while the connecting arm will offer a direct link between key arterial routes. Together, these developments are expected to significantly improve commuter experience and enhance road safety in the area.
The tender process, initiated by the Pune Municipal Corporation – Chief Engineer’s Office, had the financial bid opening scheduled for 29th July 2025. The project attracted interest from experienced infrastructure firms capable of handling complex urban civil works.
After thorough evaluation, Jitendra Singh emerged as the lowest bidder for executing the project. The contractor’s selection reflects confidence in their ability to deliver the works within time and quality parameters, considering the project’s high-profile location.
With an estimated value of ₹48,28,19,081.4, this initiative stands as a major investment in Pune’s urban mobility and traffic management infrastructure.
