Pasang Lama and Sons Got A Project: Strengthening work under Kalimpong Division

The Public Works Department (PWD), through its Roads Directorate and Project Implementation Unit-I [PIU-I], has floated an important infrastructure tender aimed at strengthening road connectivity in the Kalimpong region. This project is a part of the RIDF-XXX scheme, designed to bolster rural and hilly area infrastructure in West Bengal.
The proposed tender involves the strengthening of the Kalijhora Dam to Mandirkhola Road via Panbu Dara Road. This stretch, covering approximately 22.80 kilometers, plays a crucial role in local and regional transportation. The improvement will enhance the durability and safety of the road, especially considering the hilly terrain and seasonal challenges in Kalimpong.
This strategic initiative will not only ensure better vehicular movement but also aid in socio-economic development by connecting remote villages and improving access to essential services. The project reflects the government’s commitment to developing infrastructure in the northeastern hill districts of the state.
The financial bid for the tender was opened on 16th June 2025. Among the submitted bids, M/s Pasang Lama and Sons quoted the lowest amount, thereby becoming the L1 bidder for the project execution.
The total estimated cost for this strengthening work stands at ₹55,07,66,000, indicating a major investment in road infrastructure in the Kalimpong district.
